Green Karst

Source: TripAdvisor
Green Karst, located about 500 meters from the central market of Dong Van, offers a variety of Asian and European dishes. The dishes have received excellent reviews from customers, some of the highlights include sesame pork, banana flower salad, pasta, black chicken hot pot, and sour and spicy beef hot pot. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality of the food, ranging from 50,000 VND to 500,000 VND.
The sour and spicy beef hot pot is a best-seller at Green Karst. The perfect combination of the sweetness of pineapple blended with the slight spiciness of chili sauce, simmered with broth made from marrow bones, creates an irresistible dish. In addition to the beef tenderloin, there are also brown oyster mushrooms, morning glory, tofu, and fresh noodles.
Happy water or corn wine pairs well with the hotpot, and it’s only 70,000 VND a bottle. A perfect end to a long day of riding the loop.

Quán bánh cuốn bà Hà

When you come to Dong Van, banh cuon is a must-try. And one of the most famous banh cuon shops in Ha Giang is Mrs. Ha's.
Mrs. Ha's shop serves Dong Van-style banh cuon, which isn’t your typical rolled rice cakes dipped in nuoc mam. Over here, people have their banh cuon with broth. Mrs Ha offers three types of Dong Van-style banh cuon: regular, banh cuon with poached eggs, and yellow banh cuon (the eggs are fully cooked). The yellow banh cuon is a popular choice, especially among children. Mrs. Ha always sprinkles a bit of coriander leaves and fried shallots on top, making the banh cuon much more fragrant and delicious.
In addition to banh cuon, Mrs. Ha’s shop also offers many other local specialties. These include smoked black pork, sausages, corn wine, bat tien green tea, and more.

Quán cháo Mộc Miên

If you didn’t know already, Au Tau porridge is one of Ha Giang’s most well-known specialties, and it would be a pity if you got all the way here and didn’t get to try it. Visit Moc Mien, one of the best porridge shops in Dong Van, where you can enjoy a hearty bowl of porridge with an abundance of toppings.
Au Tau porridge is made with Au Tau, a root vegetable containing a high level of toxins and can only be found in the Northwest region. Au Tau is toxic, even deadly, however, if processed correctly, it becomes a precious remedy for health. Through the skillful hands of the Hmong, it has become a mountainous specialty. A bowl of Au Tau porridge at the shop includes plain porridge, chicken, broth, and a few pieces of Au Tau. There are also spring onions and perilla leaves - indispensable herbs for this dish. The roots are carefully boiled, so they are starchy and only slightly bitter.
Other than Au Tau porridge, Moc Mien also offers other types of porridge such as onion porridge, minced meat porridge, etc. The price for a bowl of porridge ranges from 40,000 VND to 50,000 VND. Although it is slightly higher in price compared to other shops, it is totally worth it for the quality!

Despite its unassuming exterior, Hala Indian Restaurant is the go-to spot for spicy Indian cuisine in Dong Van. The food is of excellent quality, with generous portions at reasonable prices.
