The rice season comes once a year in Hoang Su Phi. The best times are in May, when the flooding season comes; the spectacular rice fields are green and lush in July & August but at the same time, August can be very wet, so carry an umbrella like locals; and the harvesting season takes place in September. Hoang Su Phi is 300 Km away from Hanoi. One of the most convenient and safest way you should do is travelling to Hoang Su Phi by bus. From My Dinh Bus Station, get ticket for the route Ha Noi - Ha Giang with the price of 230.000VND. Then, from Ha Giang city, rent a motorbike to Hoang Su Phi. For those who want to travel to Hoang Su Phi, Ha Giang by your own transport, you can choose this adventure travellers route: 

Hanoi - Thang Long Bridge - Thang Long-Noi Bai Highway - Vinh Yen City (Vinh Phuc Province) - Viet Tri City (Phu Tho Province) - Doan Hung District (Phu Tho Province) - Tuyen Quang City - Ha Giang.

Same as Mu Cang Chai, the local people in Hoang Su Phi also growth rice on their harvest fields. At harvest time, visitors will admire the golden fields from the foot to the top of the valley. The terraced fields appear in  almost every communes in Hoang Su Phi District. However, the highest concentration is still in Ban Luoc, Ban Phung, San Sa Ho, Nam Ty, Ho Thau, Nam Khoa and Thong Nguyen.

The most special destination I found is Nam Hong area, located in the middle of the mountain with beautiful valleys and waterfalls nearby. In the  peaceful atmosphere of this land, see the beautiful Dao girls on their traditional costumes and learn about the cultural life of the Dao ethnic minority which will stay forever in your heart.
