- You can change the itinerary above to your liking. You can also include popular stops like Dong Van Ancient Town, Meo Vac or the Ma Pi Leng Pass, etc.
- If this you’re first time traveling in Ha Giang or Vietnam, we highly recommend booking through a local travel agency, as they can make a tour tailored to you, and help you with everything that comes up.
- If you’re not too confident in your driving skills, we highly recommend getting an “Easy Rider” (a personal motorbike driver) to help you get around in Ha Giang. If you want to conquer Ha Giang yourself, pay attention to the road, no matter how skilled of a driver you are. The road conditions in Ha Giang can be really bad in some places, with bumps, sharp turns, and blind corners. And keep in mind: accidents happen way more than you think! So there’s no need to go fast, take it slow and steady! You can take it a step further and get travel insurance.
- If you decide to drive, have your IDP and your Ha Giang Loop Permit ready, you may need the permit to have access to certain parts of Ha Giang.
- Petrol stations may be scarce so you should fill up your gas tank when you can, or bring some extra gas with you.
- Check the weather forecast, especially during the rainy season (May to September). Roads can be slippery so be extra careful. Bring a poncho or raincoat with you because the weather in Ha Giang can be pretty unpredictable.
