From Hanoi to Hoang Su Phi by bus

There are serveral buses from Hanoi to Ha Giang, you can either book in advance or purchase the one way or return ticket from My Dinh Bus Station.

The bus schedule: 7:00 – 8:00 – 15:00 – 16:00 – 17:00 – 20:00.

Bear in mind that the bus takes 6 hours of driving, so if you choose the afternoon or the night buses. You will arrive Ha Giang at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. This will disrupt part of your trip because its not easy to check-in that early for any accommodations. You might take a nap at the transport company until 6:00 which is not comfortable.

The first stop: rice terraces in Hoang Su Phi

In the morning, you will first visit the rice terraces in Hoang Su Phi. In the beginning of April until the end of October. The period April - July: flooded terraces season. The period mid-September - October: the harvest, the rice fields become all gilded.

You will immerse yourself in an area of ​​about 3000 ha of terrace covering 6 villages Luoc, San Sa Ho, Phung, Nam Ty and Thong Nguyen.

Arriving in Phin Ho, it is essential to visit Shan Tuyet - Ancient Tea Gardens, three or four hundred years old. A precious heritage of the Red Dao ancestors, this type of tea has a light taste and well flavor.

It is a good idea of stay overnight at Dao’s family , you will have chance to discover a lot of specialties in their cultural or even religious life.

Second Stop: Thon Tha – Ha Giang

Moving on the next destination of your northern loop adventure by visiting some minority ethnic villages in Ha Giang. There are small hamlets around Red Dao and Black Dao. On the stony dirt road, you will meet the villagers who are doing their work in the rice fields from very early in the morning.

Thon Tha Village is a little further, this village belongs to Tay ethnic group. The Tay have less colorful traditional costumes than the Black Dao. Visit the village, explore the unique culture of Tay people and the traditional art of Tay people like poems, folk tales, dances and humorous stories.
