Northwest Vietnam Motorbike Tour 10 Days

Day 01: Hanoi – Mai Chau ~160 km (-/L/D) ~ 5 hours

In the morning, you will be welcomed and picked up by our guide who will escort you along the 10 day-tour Northwest Vietnam. First, have a short briefing about the tour and safety on the way. After that, head out to Mai Chau which is 160km from Hanoi. Enjoy fabulous landscape on the way that will not let you stop having beautiful photo shoots. We then conquer two striking passes before reaching Mai Chau’s center. We then check in homestay which is a traditional house on stilts of Thai people. In the evening, we will enjoy a cultural dancing performance of Thai. Overnight in Mai Chau.

Day 02: Mai Chau – Phu Yen (B/L/D) ~140 km ~ 5 h

Enjoy breakfast at homestay before departing to Phu Yen on the Road 43 leading to Da river. Phu Yen is the land of Thai and Muong ethnic minorities. We will drive on a beautiful winding road after crossing the reservoir of Da river. Upon arrival, check in homestay and overnight in Phu Yen.

Day 03: Phu Yen – Son La (B/L/D) ~160 km ~ 6 hours

After breakfast, then head out to Son La on the Road 37 where we can mostly meet the Black Thai people who farm on the terraced rice fields. Stop on the way to enjoy the beauty of the area as well as communicate with the locals to get deeper the life in the mountainous area in Vietnam. Continue to Son La, upon arrival check in hotel/homestay and overnight in Son La.

Day 04: Son La – Tuan Giao (B/L/D)  ~140 km ~ 5 hours

Enjoy breakfast at homestay/hotel then head out to the Northwest of Son la where you will conquer some mountain passes. On the way, you will catch children at schools, kids on buffalos or women planting rice…We will then conquer the long and steep Pha Din pass which is one of top four greatest passes in Vietnam. Stop on the top of the pass for the wonderful photos of the valley and mountain ranges. Arrive in Tuan Giao in the afternoon. Check in hotel/homestay and overnight in Tuan Giao.

Day 05: Tuan Giao – Sin Ho (B/L/D) ~180 km ~ 6 hours

After breakfast, then depart to Sin Ho which is in the Northwest of Vietnam. We will pass isolated communities of Thai and H’mong people whose villages are settled on the banks of dark green river. After lunch at a local restaurant, we will go up to Sa Tong pass before traveling to Sin Ho which is a small remote town in Lai Chau. Upon arrival, check in homestay/hotel and overnight in Sin Ho.

Day 06: Sin Ho – Y Ty (B/L/D) ~ 120 km ~ 4 hours

Today we will travel towards to the Fansipan mountain range which is considered as the roof of Indochina as its peak if 3143m. We then climb up from Binh Lu and travel on the highest road pass in Vietnam (Tram Ton pass). Cross Lao Cai province at the altitude of 2000m above level sea before arriving in Y Ty which is named as the Cloudy Ocean. Check in homestay and overnight in Y Ty.

Day 07: Y Ty - Trek or Relax (B/L/D)

Enjoy your relaxing day after hard riding days at homestay and roaming the area to meet local ethnic minorities or do a trek to the top of mountain which is the highest pass in Vietnam to enjoy the beautiful valley. The whole Y Ty is populated by H’mong, Giay, Tay and Dao people. Overnight in Y Ty.

Day 08: Y Ty – Luc Yen (B/L/D) ~ 180 km ~ 6 hours

After breakfast then travel down through palm forest to Luc Yen before check-in a homestay in the Tay territory where you can find the typical hill tribe of Vietnam. Overnight at Luc Yen.

Day 09: Luc Yen – Vu Linh (B/L/D)  ~ 80 km ~ 3 hours

Enjoy breakfast at homestay/hotel before discovering Luc Yen region and visit a local family to get more understanding of the ethnic minorities in thin district. Afterwards, drive to Vu Linh where we will check in homestay of Dao people. Overnight in Vu Linh.

Day 10: Vu Linh – Hanoi (B/L/-) ~ 180 km ~ 6 hours

Enjoy breakfast at homestay and then we travel back to Hanoi on Highway 2 before reaching the small town of Phu Tho which is a rich province associated with 18 dynasties of Hung kings who were well-known for building the nation of Van Lang during 2879 to 258 B.C. Also, this is the confluence of Red River and Da river. We then continue driving to Hanoi passing Son Tay which was the capital of Vietnam before 1965. Arrive at your hotel in Hanoi, say goodbye to our guide.
